Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday that his country has started developing a domestically produced anti-ballistic system, designed to be an analogue of the U.S. Patriot in terms of intercepting ballistic targets.
"We have started building our own European project called Freya. I very much count on the success of this project," Zelensky said on X.
He said that Freya would be easier to mass-produce and less expensive than the Patriot system.
Ukraine will soon present the Freya project to partner countries that could help accelerate its development, Zelensky added.
