Yongji County in northeast China's Jilin Province has made thorough preparations for the impact of northward-moving Tropical Storm Bavi.

The storm brought downpours to many parts of the province, prompting the provincial natural resources and meteorological authorities to issue a joint warning for geological disasters on Sunday.

In Yongji County, an area at high risk of disasters, local authorities have taken early precautions by stockpiling emergency supplies and opening evacuation shelters.

The local emergency supply depot has stored items such as folding beds, bedding, tents, generators, and lighting equipment. In the event of an emergency, these supplies will be transported to the scene immediately.

Before Bavi's landfall in east China's Zhejiang Province on Saturday, local authorities inventoried, inspected, and replenished all flood-control supplies to ensure that emergency supplies were ready for immediate deployment at any time.

"There are approximately 5,000 sets of cotton quilts and more than 6,000 cotton mattresses. In accordance with the allocation orders, we have been distributing these supplies to various townships and emergency response sites," said Wang Danhe, deputy director of the county's Development and Reform Bureau.

In addition to emergency supplies, the county has also opened 20 temporary shelters and four emergency resettlement sites in advance. Each resettlement site and shelter is equipped with directional signs to facilitate the rapid evacuation of residents.

In addition to daily necessities, the sites have medical service stations staffed by healthcare personnel and stocked with commonly used medications.
