China's top political advisor Wang Huning met with all representatives attending the 11th Conference for Friendship of Overseas Chinese Associations in Beijing on Monday.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, posed for group photos with all delegates and, on behalf of the CPC Central Committee, extended a warm welcome to them and conveyed sincere greetings to overseas Chinese around the world.

Li Ganjie, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting and addressed the opening ceremony of the conference.

Li said overseas Chinese are important members of the Chinese nation, important participants in Chinese modernization, and an important bridge linking China and the rest of the world.

He called on overseas Chinese to seize historical opportunities, keep pace with the times, actively contribute to the great cause of national rejuvenation, promote world peace and development, and strengthen solidarity and cooperation among overseas Chinese communities, thus making new contributions to realizing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and enhancing friendship and cooperation between China and other countries.

The Conference for Friendship of Overseas Chinese Associations is a major platform for exchanges among leading overseas Chinese organizations around the world.

This year's conference has attracted more than 400 heads of overseas Chinese associations from 140 countries and regions.

China's total box office revenue for the 2026 summer movie season has surpassed three billion yuan (about 442.68 million U.S. dollars), driven by a diverse array of domestic and foreign films, industry data showed on Monday.

As of 13:14 on Monday, earnings for the season, which runs from June 1 to Aug 31, cleared the milestone, according to Maoyan, a major Chinese ticketing platform and box office tracker.

More than 100 films are slated for release this summer, spanning genres from revolutionary history to comedy, animation, and science fiction to cater to varied audience tastes, data showed.

To stimulate consumer spending, several regions across China have introduced subsidized ticketing vouchers and expanded "Cinema Plus" initiatives. These events have enriched cultural life and helped boost seasonal consumption.
