The 2026 World AI Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance marks the ninth edition of the world’s flagship international summit on artificial intelligence. Set to be held in Shanghai, China, from July 17 to 20, the event carries the theme “AI Partnership for a Brighter Future,” and will gather global industry practitioners, scholars and policymakers to exchange insights on AI innovation and cross-border governance.
The far-reaching value of inclusive, people-centric AI applications can be vividly felt through on-the-ground experiences across Chinese cities.
Ekaterina Kaligaeva, A vlogger from Belarus recently made a one-day tour across Beijing to visit a string of public smart health service sites, immersing herself in the new model of urban wellness empowered by digital technology.
At a designated smart demonstration park -- Liuyin Park, Ekaterina Kaligaeva, the vlogger, interacted with AI touchscreens and followed virtual coaches to practice time-honored traditional wellness exercises like tai chi and baduanjin (a traditional Chinese aerobic exercise).
"I've arrived at Liuyin Park. At first look, it's like a regular neighborhood park, but here is where technology is changing the way people exercise. In fact, Liuyin Park has become a showroom for high-end technology park. People come here from all over the city to experience the high-tech and smart fitness," she said.
"Here you'll find smart cycling machines and other equipment as well as health testing stations where people can check indicators such as heart rate and body composition," she continued.
One machine in the park serves as a quick health check-in. It measures things like height, weight, BMI and other body indicators.
"What I find really interesting is the combination of traditions and modern. Traditional wellness practices together with AI screening and digital feedback. This shows that health is not just about medicine or hospitals, it's also about daily movement, prevention, and making wellness accessible in public places," she said.
Just a few minutes' walk from the Liuyin Park, there's a hidden gem right inside the community. It is Anzhen health community center where people will find a smart health station which has been running for over a decade.
Beijing has over 400 similar stations all over the city. Residents just use their medical insurance card or ID to start a free checkup on the all-in-one machine.
It measures blood pressure, blood sugar, height, weight, and even does a traditional Chinese medicine constitution analysis.
From a health checkup to ongoing care management, all is done right at the doorstep, a kind of convenience that makes healthy living accessible for everyone.
Kaligaeva later reflected on her experience, saying that healthcare is a shared priority for people worldwide. What truly resonated with her is not advanced technology itself but how intelligent health facilities have settled into community parks and grassroots service centers, building an accessible, universal public health service system that brings the convenience of artificial intelligence to ordinary people’s daily routines, fitness and wellness regimens.
