China urges the U.S. side to revoke discriminatory policies against Chinese journalists immediately, and China reserves the right to take reciprocal countermeasures, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Friday.
Spokesperson Lin Jian told a daily press briefing when asked to comment on the fact that the U.S. side has claimed to shorten the visa stay period for journalists, which may include Chinese journalists.
"The U.S. restrictions on cultural and people-to-people exchanges serve no one's interests, and China firmly opposes the discriminatory measures taken by the U.S. side against specific countries. The U.S. actions seriously violate the three-point consensus on media issues reached between China and the United States in 2021 and severely affect the normal operations of Chinese media in the United States. China demands that the U.S. side immediately revoke its discriminatory policies toward Chinese journalists and effectively safeguard their legitimate rights and interests in the United States. China reserves the right to take reciprocal countermeasures," said Lin.
