Marten and Nermin Abdou officially started their franchise journey with the Dickey's Barbecue Pit located in Camp Hill on June 22 and are excited to serve the community they have called home for the past three years.

Located at 3401 Hartzdale Drive near one of the area's busiest shopping corridors, the restaurant has long served local residents, families and visitors looking for authentic barbecue, convenient catering and a welcoming atmosphere.

"We're excited to serve the Camp Hill community and continue the Dickey's tradition of great barbecue," said Marten Abdou. "From the beginning, we were drawn to Dickey's because of its family-oriented atmosphere, commitment to quality and the experience it creates for guests. We look forward to welcoming long-term fans and introducing new guests to everything Dickey's has to offer."

After completing extensive hands-on training and graduating from Dickey’s Barbecue University, the Abdous are ready to put their knowledge into action and begin this exciting new chapter. Building on that foundation most of the changes will take place behind the scenes, the Abdous are already evaluating several operational improvements, including new digital menu displays and equipment upgrades designed to support a smoother experience for both guests and team members.

As part of their introduction to the community, the Abdous are planning a future celebration featuring food, music and an opportunity for guests to meet the new franchisees. Additional details and promotional offerings will be announced at a later date.

The new franchise owners say community involvement will remain a priority as they continue building relationships throughout Camp Hill and the surrounding area.

"We're proud to be part of this community and excited for this next chapter," said Marten Abdou. "We invite everyone to stop by, enjoy some barbecue and get to know us."

Dickey’s first landed onto Camp Hill’s dining scene in 2016, and since then has been introducing the “West Shore” to the deliciousness of authentic, slow-smoked Texas-style barbecue. It didn’t take long for fans across the area to discover the delicious difference in Dickey’s craveable ‘cue.

The Dickey’s difference starts with its approach to smoking premium cuts of brisket, pork, chicken and kielbasa sausage low and slow for hours over a proprietary applewood pellet blend. The barbecue brand, which has been serving smoked favorites since opening its first location in Texas in 1941, features classic American barbecue staples such as pulled pork, brisket, coleslaw, barbecue beans, and potato salad. In addition, longtime barbecue fans and newcomers alike can indulge their taste buds at the Camp Hill location, which also serves chicken wings, fall-off-the-bone ribs, giant loaded baked potatoes, smoked ham & cheddar sandwiches, and other rotating menu items.

Dickey’s in Camp Hill is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Stay up to date with Dickey’s by following their dedicated Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok. Download the Dickey’s Barbecue Pit app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Guardians and Pittsburgh Pirates will play a doubleheader on Saturday after the opening game of the weekend series between the teams was postponed on Friday night because of poor air quality caused by wildfires.

The teams and umpire crew met at 4:30 p.m. EDT, when the air quality index was at 203, which is deemed to be very unhealthy and hazardous.

The first game of Saturday's split doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:10 p.m. EDT.

The second game is scheduled to start at 7:10 p.m. EDT, but rain is forecast for most of the evening.

Pittsburgh's Jared Jones (1-1) against Cleveland's Gavin Williams (10-4) — who were Friday's scheduled starters — will take the mound for Saturday's first game.

The Guardians will call up Logan Allen (0-0) to pitch Saturday's nightcap. It will be his second appearance of the season at the big league level. The Pirates are still determining their starter.

The first series after the All-Star break is critical for both teams. Cleveland (51-46) came into Friday tied with the Chicago White Sox atop the AL Central while Pittsburgh (50-47) was two games behind Miami for the final NL wild-card spot.

“To get 48 hours to really just be with your family, be with loved ones, do something other than go to the field, it is super powerful. So I hope our guys got a chance to turn off and also what it does is it gives people a small reset,” Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said.

The Guardians got a boost before the postponement as injured third baseman José Ramírez did some fielding work.

Ramírez had surgery on June 16 to remove the hook of the broken hamate bone in his left hand. He suffered the injury during the fifth inning on June 13 against Detroit when he fouled out on a popup.

When Ramírez was injured, it was estimated he would miss 5-7 weeks.

“He’s been working hard. I think I read the other day his speed is up from where it was at the beginning of the year with his running and he’s been simulating innings. So we’re not 100% sure he’ll need to go out (on a rehab assignment), but again, he’s going to know what he needs when he feels like he’s ready to go play,” Vogt said.
