China adds 14 EU entities to export control list

China's Ministry of Commerce on Friday announced a decision to add 14 European Union (EU) entities to its export control list to safeguard national security and interests and fulfill international non-proliferation obligations. Export operators are prohibited from exporting dual-use items to entities that include Lafert S.p.A., Garnet S.r.l., Sindlhauser Materials GmbH, Rheinmetall AG, Antraco Chemie-Handelsgesellschaft mbH, InPACT S.A. and III-V LAB, according to an announcement released by the ministry.

Overseas organizations and individuals are prohibited from transferring or providing dual-use items originating in China to these entities. Any related activities currently underway must be halted immediately, the ministry said.

A spokesperson for the ministry said the measures were taken in response to EU's moves to put 14 enterprises from Chinese mainland and Hong Kong under sanction in its latest sanctions package against Russia.

The measures were taken in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, including China's export control law and the export control regulation for dual-use items, the spokesperson said.

Dual-use items are goods, technologies, or services that could be used for either civil purposes or military purposes, or to contribute to an increase in military potential, especially in the design, development, production, or use of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery.

At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini will pay a state visit to China from July 27 to 29.

It will promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries, to continuously enrich the connotation of the strategic partnership between China and Slovakia," said spokesman Lin Jian.
