The stunt team founded by Chinese film icon Jackie Chan brought the fight scenes in the new superhero film Spider-Man: Brand New Day to life, earning praise from lead actor Tom Holland on Friday.

Holland and lead actress Zendaya attended a fan event and a premiere screening of the Marvel film in Shanghai ahead of its release in Chinese cinemas.

The film follows Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man, as he continues to protect New York City anonymously after being forgotten by the world. This time, the friendly superhero is lonelier than ever.

"You know, as a fan of Peter Parker, I always want him to have a happy ending. But, I don't know guys, it's not looking good," said Zendaya.

The film also has a Chinese connection, with its action sequences choreographed by the Jackie Chan Stunt Team.

At the event, Holland hailed the stunt team's work on the film and described his meeting with Chan on set as a thrilling experience.

"We had a wonderful stunt team who came from China to the UK to train me up and to bring these fight scenes to life. And I think when you get to sit through the entire movie, you will see a level of action that we have never seen before in any of these movies," Holland said.

Speaking about the encounter, Holland said: "I was on set and we were shooting and I heard rumblings that Jackie Chan was visiting. And I turned around, and there he was. And it was so exciting to meet such an icon, someone I've been a fan of for such a long time. And he gave me a great vote of confidence. You know, he sung the praises of his team and you know, it was a real lovely blessing for us to go on this adventure."

Holland and Zendaya also unveiled an exclusive poster for the film.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will open in Chinese theaters on Wednesday, two days ahead of its North American release.

Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Sunday said Ukraine's attack on an Iranian commercial ship in the Caspian Sea "cannot go unanswered."

In a post on the social media platform X, Araghchi accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of ordering "a blatant UN Charter violation done at Israel's behest to drag Europe into its war."

He said he had "made clear that what the freeloader in Kyiv did CANNOT GO UNANSWERED" in phone calls with European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

According to the Iranian foreign ministry, the attack took place at 3:00 local time on Saturday (2330 GMT on Friday) and led to the vessel's explosion as well as a sailor's death.

The semi-official Mehr news agency on Sunday reported that three sailors were also injured in the attack.

Citing the Governor of Iran's northern Gilan province Hadi Haghshenas, it said that the steel-laden vessel was en route from Russia's Astrakhan Port to Iran's Anzali Port in Gilan when it came under attack.

The ship's bridge was destroyed, leaving it unable to continue its voyage, Haghshenas said, adding that the incident would be pursued through domestic and international legal channels.

Zelensky said on Saturday that his country's forces had hit a Russian warship and vessels used for transporting Iran-linked military cargo in the Caspian Sea.
