Zhao Leji, chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, met with visiting Slovak President Peter Pellegrini in Beijing on Wednesday, to discuss relations between their two countries.
At the meeting, Zhao, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China is willing to work with Slovakia to continuously enhance strategic mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, economy and trade, artificial intelligence, new energy and other areas, promote people-to-people connectivity, and jointly push China-Slovakia relations to develop at a high level.
He added that the NPC is willing to maintain close friendly exchanges with Slovakia's National Council, carry out exchanges of experience in legislation, oversight and other work, and provide legal guarantees for the two countries' practical cooperation.
Pellegrini said that Slovakia and China have adhered to mutual respect, sovereign equality and continuous dialogue, laying a foundation for long-term and sound development of Slovakia-China relations.
Slovakia is willing to enhance exchanges with China's legislative body, increase understanding, deepen mutual trust and expand cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, he said.
