To adapt to the requirements of modern warfare, the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has expanded its operational reach, with strike capabilities extending from land into the skies, according to an episode of CMG's special production, The Road to Victory, released to mark the 99th anniversary of the PLA's founding.
Through successive equipment upgrades and tactical evolution, the PLA Army continues to sharpen its combat edge. Keeping pace with the times ensures its elite troops stand ready to head into battle with unwavering confidence whenever duty calls.
"We continue exploring ways to further extend our operational reach and improve coordination between ground and air forces across complex terrain. Single-axis low-altitude assaults are now only basic tactics. Today forces are adopting multi-directional, three-dimensional operations, with air and ground forces working in close coordination to build an integrated offensive and defensive network," said Fan Mingsong, a serviceman from an air assault brigade of the PLA Army.
"Land, sky and sea. Wherever the battlefield extends -- the PLA Army follows," said Wang Rui, a serviceman from a PLA Army brigade.
The PLA's efforts to expand its operational reach across all domains have ensured its combat-readiness as service members continue to upgrade their skills through training exercises.
"Carrying the mission of victory, we have honed our capabilities through countless training exercises. We are equipped for all-domain operations with integrated offensive and defensive capabilities, remain combat-ready at all times. When called upon, we will overcome obstacles, seize our objectives, and complete our mission," Fan said.
"In my 33 years of service, I have witnessed the transition through three generations of military equipment and 16 different vehicle models. We have moved from mechanization to informationization, and now toward intelligent and unmanned systems. With every upgrade and transformation, I have always approached training with a beginner's mindset, rebuilding my skills from the ground up. When the call comes, I will be ready to deploy to the battlefield at any time," said Ding Hui, a serviceman from a PLA Army brigade.
