Hong Kong stocks close mixed Tuesday

Hong Kong's stock market ended mixed Tuesday with the benchmark Hang Seng Index down 0.60 percent to close at 25,852.92 points.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped 0.90 percent to end at 8,574.26 points, and the Hang Seng Tech Index increased by 0.21 percent to end at 4,885.61 points.

Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.33 percent to 3,822.28 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 3.25 percent higher at 13,885.71 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by these two indices stood at around 2.21 trillion yuan (about 325.4 billion U.S. dollars), up from 2 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Co-packaged optics, semiconductor chips and computing power leasing stocks rallied, while banking, insurance and automobile stocks suffered losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 5.64 percent to close at 3,488.97 points.

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 4.77 percent higher at 1,841.99 points.
