U.S. stocks ended higher on Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 151.83 points, or 0.28 percent, to 54,036.93 points. The Standard and Poor's 500 added 47.68 points, or 0.62 percent, to 7,757.64 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 342.26 points, or 1.30 percent, to 26,690.62 points.
Eight of the 11 primary Standard and Poor's 500 sectors ended in the green, with materials and consumer discretionary leading the gainers by adding 1.52 percent and 1.34 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, energy and communication services led the laggards by going down 1.16 percent and 0.35 percent, respectively.
