A quick-thinking bus driver has been hailed for his actions after he brought his vehicle to a halt and rushed out to save a mother and daughter who had fallen on a flooded street amid torrential downpours in east China's Shandong Province on Monday.
The incident -- which was captured on camera by passengers and in dashcam and security footage from the bus itself -- unfolded in Jinan City, where heavy rain resulted in severe flooding across some of the city's roads.
During rush hour, a mother on an electric scooter lost balance at a busy intersection and fell in the floodwater, unable to move. Her young daughter who was also riding the scooter tried to stand up, but the current was too strong, preventing her from getting to her feet.
Thankfully, observant bus driver Wang Yongke spotted the struggling pair as he was passing, immediately stopped his bus, and dashed out into the rain-soaked street to come to their aid.
Finding the mother's leg was pinned under the scooter by the rushing floodwater, Wang quickly lifted up the two-wheeler to free her, while the mother and daughter then helped each other up and followed Wang to safety as he pushed the stricken bike away from the busy road.
After ensuring both were unharmed, Wang -- who was completely drenched from head to toe -- returned to his bus, climbed back into the driver's seat, calmly fastened his seatbelt and set off to continue his duties on the city's 503 route.
Wang's swift intervention and the seemingly cool manner in which he carried out the rescue before nonchalantly getting back to work earned him wide praise from passengers.
