Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) held the Solar Project 2026 ClosingCeremony today (August 13). The Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Ms Angela Lee, officiated as guest of honour, joining the Director of Broadcasting, Ms Angelina Kwan, to witness 106 students from 77 secondary schools present the learning outcomes they achieved through the programme.

In her address, Ms Lee said,"Amid a shifting global economic landscape and rapid technological advancement, Hong Kong will seize the opportunities presented by the National 15th Five-Year Plan, channelling our unique strengths into the broader national development agenda and innovation ecosystem. From the digital economy and innovation and technology to cultural and creative industries and professional services, tremendous opportunities lie ahead. These are opportunities that call for a passionate, creative, and committed new generation, just like our Solar Ambassadors, to step up and seize them."

The Solar Project 2026 was themed "Cultural and Tourism Junior Reporters". Participating secondary school students took on the role of Solar Ambassadors and engaged in a series of study visits and training activities. These included a study trip to Qianhai, Shenzhen, in late June, accompanied by workshops on digital media production as well as broadcasting and hosting skills; a visit to Xinjiang in early July; and a mid-programme sharing session in late July. At today's closing ceremony, the Solar Ambassadors shared their learning outcomes through a variety of formats, telling the nation's story to the world from a youthful perspective. Ms Lee encouraged the Solar Ambassadors to sustain their passion and curiosity, to keep exploring and embrace innovation, and to continuously develop themselves in order to be well prepared to seize future opportunities.

Other guests attending the closing ceremony included Senior Curriculum Development Officer (Personal, Social and Humanities Education) of the Education Bureau Ms Carmen Chan, members of the RTHK Advisory Committee, and representatives from co-organising and sponsoring organisations.

RTHK will produce a special programme, "Solar Project", to comprehensively document the highlights of this year's activities. The programme will air on RTHK TV31 for three consecutive Fridays beginning August 28 at 9.30pm.

Solar Project 2026 is jointly organised by RTHK and the Hong Kong Chinese Culture Development Association, sponsored by the B&P Foundation, and funded by the HYAB Funding Scheme for Youth Exchange in the Mainland.

Hospital Authority Family Medicine Clinics only accept calls with caller ID for appointment booking starting tomorrow

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

A spokesperson for the Hospital Authority (HA) reminded the public today (August 14) that, to further safeguard patients' personal data and privacy, starting tomorrow (August 15), the telephone appointment system (TAS) of Family Medicine Clinics (FMCs) will only accept calls from phone numbers with caller ID for appointment booking. If patients hide their phone number before calling the TAS, the system will automatically play a recorded message reminding them to switch to a phone with caller ID and call the FMC again.

For patients with episodic diseases requiring consultation services (such as influenza or gastroenteritis), before calling the TAS of an FMC, they may first check whether the "Show my caller ID" function is enabled in the settings of their mobile phones. If a patient's landline has opted for a per-line blocking, they should dial 1357 before making a call to display the phone number once for that specific call, or contact the telecommunications service provider to cancel the arrangement for per-line blocking.

The spokesperson for HA reiterated that the updated TAS of FMCs, which no longer accepts calls without caller ID for appointment bookings, aims to accurately record the source of each booking call, facilitate verification of patient information when necessary, and help prevent criminals from using phones without caller ID to impersonate patients when making appointments, thereby enhancing protection for patients.

The HA reminds new patients, namely those who have never registered in the HA nor used HA services, that they are required to bring their original identity documents and visit any FMC in person to register and verify their information before they can use the telephone appointment service thereafter. As for chronic disease patients, after each follow-up visit, the FMC will arrange the next appointment based on the patients' clinical needs, and these patients do not need to make an appointment again by calling the TAS. The HA encourages patients to use the Book FMC function in the mobile application, HA Go, which is more convenient and efficient.
