With the second World Humanoid Robot Games set to open on August 22 at the National Speed Skating Oval in Beijing, organizers have unveiled a dedicated "Robot Home" to ensure that the mechanical athletes are fully charged and competition-ready.

This year's event, jointly hosted by the Beijing Municipal Government and China Media Group (CMG), will bring together 666 teams and 2,056 robots, a 138 percent increase in team numbers compared with the inaugural edition in 2025.

The five-day program includes 30 competitive events spanning ball games and combat categories, plus 21 scenario-based challenges covering industrial assembly and home services.

Given the expanded schedule and diverse venues, the organizing committee has established training and charging facilities near each competition venue.

Beyond the competition itself, the games will feature integrated 5G and WiFi communications to ensure an interference-free, highly reliable environment. Organizers have also created a "Robot Street" offering smart vending and VR viewing experiences to give audiences a richer taste of cutting-edge technology.

"We have also built an embodied intelligent robot management platform. This platform can achieve cross-brand, cross-model robot management. The goal is to meet the hope for breakthroughs in key technologies and key fields. In the future, we can solve some ultra-low time-lag issues, solve some multi-robot coordination issues, and tackle technical challenges in the direction of space-air-ground integration, in efforts to ultimately better promote humanoid robots' entry into human production and life," said Zhao Dongwei, deputy director of the Office of the Organizing Committee of the Second World Humanoid Robot Games.

Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), said he sees a brighter future for DPRK-Russia ties in a reply to Russian President Vladimir Putin, state media Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Sunday.

Kim, president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, sent the reply on Saturday after receiving Putin's message on Friday, which marked the 81st anniversary of the Korean Peninsula's liberation from Japanese colonial rule at the end of World War II in 1945.

In his message, Putin said the DPRK and Russia were actively cooperating across all sectors and working together to safeguard regional security and stability, according to the KCNA.

Kim also expressed confidence in the reply that Russia's armed forces and people, under Putin's leadership, would succeed in defending the country's sovereignty, security interests and territorial integrity, and in building a strong Russia. He wished Putin further success in his work.

The Liberation Day, observed on Aug 15, commemorates the liberation of the Korean Peninsula from Japanese colonial rule.

Separately, the KCNA reported that Kim visited the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mount Taesong in Pyongyang on Friday to pay tribute to anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters.

A wreath in Kim's name was laid at the cemetery as a ceremonial wreath-laying song was played, the KCNA said. Kim said the fighters' firm convictions and unyielding spirit continued to inspire the DPRK people’s efforts to build the DPRK into a prosperous country.
