Short but intense rainstorms hit the cities of Xinzhou and Taiyuan in north China's Shanxi province on Saturday night, flooding roads and prompting emergency crews to swing into action.
In Xinzhou, hourly rainfall reached 36.1 millimeters, leaving several urban roads underwater.
Municipal workers opened manhole covers to speed up drainage, while police officers and municipal crews temporarily closed a flooded railway underpass to carry out urgent pumping operations.
In Taiyuan, the downpour continued from Saturday evening into the early hours of Sunday, causing waterlogging in low‑lying areas.
Local authorities activated flood control plans, closed some underpasses, and placed warning signs along key routes.
Pumping trucks were deployed as needed, and patrols were stepped up to ensure public safety.
With another round of rain forecast for next week, officials say they are adjusting their response plans to minimize disruption to daily life and transport.

At the event, CMG also introduced a number of its programs to Azerbaijan Television, a state-controlled national television station in Azerbaijan, including China Flash Forward, Chinese Craftsmanship, Song of the Yellow River, Herbal Legacy, The Wisdom of Wellness, and Wok This Way, which aroused great interest among the guests present.
