Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met with President of the Republic of Ecuador Daniel Roy-Gilchrist Noboa Azin in Beijing on Wednesday.

Noting this year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Ecuador comprehensive strategic partnership, Zhao said China stands ready to work with Ecuador to deliver on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, carry forward time-honored friendship, deepen practical cooperation, continuously elevate bilateral relations, and bring more benefits to the people of the two countries.

The NPC of China is ready to boost multi-level and multi-field friendly exchanges with Ecuador's National Assembly, deepen experience-sharing on legislation, oversight and governance, and provide legal safeguards for practical cooperation between the two countries, Zhao said.

Noboa said Ecuador views China as a good friend and good partner and supports China in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Ecuador is ready to deepen cooperation with China in trade, investment and other sectors, and strengthen mutual learning between the two countries' legislative bodies, Noboa said.
