The central government of China issued 6 billion yuan (about 884 million U.S. dollars) of sovereign bonds in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Thursday.
The central government has issued renminbi-denominated sovereign bonds in Macao SAR for five consecutive years.
The issuance features a more diversified maturity structure, which will further improve the regular issuance mechanism and provide investors with more secure and stable renminbi-denominated investment options, and will play a positive role in continuously optimizing the ecosystem of Macao's bond market and advancing connectivity between Macao, the mainland and international markets.

United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday expressed alarm over reports of new illegal Israeli settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank and called on Israel to cease further actions in this regard.
Spokesman for the secretary-general Stephane Dujarric said at the daily briefing that Guterres was particularly concerned about the E1 settlement, a project east of Jerusalem that would sever the northern and southern West Bank and threaten the viability of a two‑state solution.
"He's particularly concerned about the developments related to this E1 settlement, which would effectively sever the connection between the northern and the southern West Bank. As such, it would have severe consequences for the territorial integrity of the occupied Palestinian territory and present an existential threat to the two-state solution. The Secretary-General calls on Israel to refrain from taking any further steps in this regard and to act in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions in line with the International Court of Justice advisory opinion of July 19, 2024," said Dujarric.
In its advisory opinion, the court found that Israel's continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territory was unlawful. The court declared that Israel was required to end that presence "as rapidly as possible," immediately cease all new settlement activity, evacuate all settlers, and make reparation for the damage caused by its acts.
