Russia reports port strikes, Donetsk gain as Ukraine hits fuel, ammo sites in Zaporizhzhia

Russia said Tuesday its forces struck Ukrainian ports and supply vessels, while Ukraine reported overnight attacks on Russian military targets across several regions, damaging equipment including a MiG‑29 fighter jet.

Russian forces used attack drones and air‑launched precision weapons to hit two dry‑cargo ships carrying supplies for Ukrainian troops, four warehouses and port infrastructure at Pivdennyi (Yuzhny) in Odesa Oblast. They also struck fuel storage tanks at Chornomorsk port in the same region, the Defense Ministry said in its daily report.

Additionally, Russian forces secured control of the settlement of Annovka in the Donetsk region.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's General Staff reported that its forces launched overnight strikes from Monday to Tuesday against multiple Russian military targets, damaging equipment and facilities including a MiG-29 fighter jet.

The strikes targeted the Millerovo air base in Russia's Rostov Oblast, the Peresvet laser weapons system in the Luhansk region, a Starlink satellite communications jamming station in Crimea, and Russian fuel, ammunition, and military supply depots in the Zaporizhzhia region, the Ukraine's General Staff said.

Qatar said on Tuesday that contacts with the United States and Iran are continuing in an effort to bring the two sides back to negotiations.

"Our officials are on the phone on a daily basis trying to workshop ideas, workshop ways of getting back to the negotiations," Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al Ansari said at a weekly media briefing.

On the Strait of Hormuz, Al Ansari urged dialogue and diplomacy, saying the priority is "to go back to the freedom of navigation and to the opening of the Strait of Hormuz the way it was before the war."

Regarding the latest U.S. economic sanctions against Iran, Al Ansari called them unilateral and reiterated that Qatar prioritizes a diplomatic settlement.

"We are urging the parties to engage fully in the talks and the mediation that is led by Qatar and Pakistan and the other regional players and we find that to be the only way out of this crisis," he said.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday announced a new wave of sanctions to further isolate Iran, warning of what he called "an economic D-Day."
