President Xi Jinping's upcoming state visit to Egypt is expected to further deepen cooperation and mutual support between the two countries, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press briefing in Beijing on Wednesday.
Lin made the statement in response to a media query about the report that from August 30 to September 3, President Xi will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2026 in Bishkek, and pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan and Egypt upon the invitation of President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt.
"Egypt is the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relationship with the People's Republic of China. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President El-Sisi, political mutual trust between the two countries has continued to deepen, with fruitful outcomes in cooperation across various fields, ever more frequent people-to-people exchanges, and close and effective multilateral coordination. The China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership has achieved leapfrog development and entered the best period in history, becoming a model of solidarity and cooperation, and mutual benefit and win-win outcomes among developing countries," Lin said.
"This is President Xi Jinping's first state visit to Egypt in 10 years and coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt. It carries special significance for building on the past and opening up a new chapter for the development of bilateral relations. During the visit, President Xi Jinping will hold talks with President El-Sisi, and have in-depth exchanges of views on China-Egypt relations and international and regional issues of common concern. China looks forward to carrying forward the traditional friendship with Egypt through this visit, firmly supporting each other, carrying out mutually beneficial cooperation, helping advance each other's modernization process, jointly writing a new chapter in China-Egypt relations, and making positive contributions to maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world,” he said.
