Gold, silver futures rise on Thursday

International gold and silver prices both rose on Thursday, driven by a weaker U.S. dollar index.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, gold futures for December delivery gained 0.23 percent to settle at 4,664 U.S. dollars per ounce, while silver futures for September delivery jumped 2.07 percent to close at 69.431 dollars per ounce.

European stock markets ended mixed across the board on Thursday.

The United Kingdom's FTSE 100 index dropped 0.79 percent to close at 10,792.54 points. France's CAC 40 index fell 1.68 percent to finish at 8,319.87 points. Germany's DAX index gained 0.31 percent to end the session at 26,367.24 points.
