The streets of the Egyptian capital Cairo have been decked out with the national flags of China and Egypt, as the country awaits the arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Xi's trip, which comes at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, marks his first state visit to the country in a decade, and coincides with the 70th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relationship.
During the trip, the two heads of state will hold an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual interest.
Xi's entourage includes his wife Peng Liyuan, Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, and Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese foreign minister.
Xi had earlier on Tuesday departed from the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek, where he attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2026 and paid a state visit to Kyrgyzstan.
