As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) will host the inaugural International Lantern Spectacular at Victoria Park from September 17 to 27.

Under the theme “Reunion,” the event will feature a World Lantern Boulevard, bringing together over 3,000 distinctive festive lanterns from 20 countries and regions. It will also showcase giant master-crafted lanterns from Nanjing and a dedicated Hong Kong Lantern Galleria displaying over 400 traditional handmade lanterns, creating a Mid-Autumn celebration that can only be experienced in Hong Kong.

Among the dazzling lantern decorations, a giant masterpiece lantern, crafted by Nanjing’s master artisans, brings centuries-old Qinhuai lantern-making to Hong Kong for an immersive traditional spectacle, with design inspiration from Hong Kong’s iconic banyan tree.

Another standout is “Moonlit Lotus,” where a seven-metre-tall giant moon lantern is surrounded by glowing lotus lanterns in the pool, symbolising reunion and joy under the same bright moon.

“Dragon Gate” features a pair of carp leaping from the water, their graceful curves converging into a circle, a symbol of fulfilment, good fortune, and continuous blessings.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has reopened “Winter Wonderland in Central” in Statue Square from December 10. In addition, the “Starlight Boulevard” on Chater Road and the “Immersive Light Show in Central” will also be launched. The launch ceremony of the light show, which was scheduled to be held on November 28, will be postponed due to the influence of the Tai Po fire.

The “Immersive Light Show in Central” will feature winter icons through projections, LED animations, and lighting effects beamed across the façades of eight iconic buildings in Central, together with holographic projections on installations and trees in Statue Square. HKTB hopes the event will spread warmth, hope, and blessings of peace to all the people in Hong Kong. Moreover, the event partners will also donate the proceeds to support people in need.
