Chinese President Xi Jinping attended a welcome ceremony held by U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday morning.
After the two heads of state delivered respective addresses, Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan, accompanied by Trump and his wife Melania Trump, stepped onto a balcony facing the south lawn of the White House to watch a presidential salute performed by the U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon.
The two presidents and their spouses later attended a military review in the Rose Garden, which featured trumpeters and flag-bearers on the rooftop and a series of performances and demonstrations by traditional military bands.
The welcome ceremony concluded with a special fly-over featuring a B-2 Spirit bomber and four F-22 Raptor fighter jets.
At the invitation of Trump, Xi is paying a state visit to the United States from Wednesday to Friday.
