Scenic spots across China rolled out a variety of distinctive activities for visitors during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. At the Jiayu Pass Scenic Area in northwest China's Gansu Province, visitors strolled along the city walls, taking in the vast Gobi Desert in the distance and the imposing grandeur of the fortress up close, immersing themselves in the majestic ancient charm of the Great Wall and sweeping desert landscapes of the northwest. During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the site introduced non-player character interactions, where tourists could encounter actors dressed in traditional costumes at any time, engaging in poetry recitation or quiz games while learning about ancient culture in a unique way.
"This is my first time visiting Jiayu Pass. I saw the magnificent gate tower and felt the profound sense of history here. There are many activities inside the pass town that allowed me to learn about Great Wall culture up close in an immersive way," said a tourist named Mi Zeyu.
Meanwhile, at China (Zhengzhou) Greening Expo Park in central China's Henan Province, more than 50,000 Phalaenopsis orchids were in full bloom. The exhibition area integrated the orchids into artistic installations, with floral landscapes arranged in a staggered layout and layered flower corridors stretching out gracefully in winding paths.
"I've been walking around for about half an hour. It feels very beautiful for taking photos, great for photos," said a tourist named Chang Leyi.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, fell on Friday this year. Across China, people celebrate the day by family reunions for moon-appreciation and eating mooncakes.
