State Grid Corporation of China, the world's largest utility company, has deployed 599 emergency charging guns across expressway service areas in China for this year's week-long National Day holiday that started on Thursday.
It has also arranged 32 mobile emergency charging vehicles at service areas with heavy charging demand and spare transformer capacity.
New energy vehicle trips were expected to reach 17.8 million on Thursday, marking a travel peak on the first day of the holiday.
According to projections by the Ministry of Transport, new energy vehicle travel will remain heavy throughout the holiday, with the daily average reaching 1.8 times the usual level.
From 10:00 each day, vehicle traffic at charging stations in expressway service areas begins to climb noticeably. After 21:00, the flow gradually eases, and charging demand falls accordingly.
October 5 and 6 will mark the return travel peak, when there will be a surge in the number of vehicles charging on expressways.
