Man charged by Police National Security Department
The National Security Department (NSD) of the Hong Kong Police Force took enforcement action on July 9 in Eastern District and arrested a 52-year-old local man for an offence of "knowingly publishing publications that had a seditious intention", in contravention of Section 24 of the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance.

Investigation revealed that the arrested man was suspected of repeatedly publishing posts with seditious intentions on online social platforms, with content provoking hatred towards the Central Authorities, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and the Judiciary; and inciting others to attempt to procure the alteration of any matter established in accordance with the law in the HKSAR.
The NSD laid a charge against the man with one count of "knowingly publishing publications that had a seditious intention" in the morning of October 7. The case was mentioned at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Court in the afternoon on the same day.

Police remind members of the public that "knowingly publishing publications that had a seditious intention" is a serious offence. Offenders shall be liable to imprisonment for seven years on first conviction. Members of the public are urged not to defy the law.
Notice on the Official Opening and Operation of the Huanggang Port

Pursuant to the "Official Reply of the State Council concerning the Agreement on the Commissioning of the Huanggang Port Hong Kong Port Area and Related Extended Areas", the Huanggang Port Hong Kong Port Area and Related Extended Areas were commissioned beginning at 00:00 hours of July 31, 2026, and are subject to the jurisdiction of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“HKSAR”) in accordance with the laws of the HKSAR. The official opening date is to be determined by the governments of Guangdong and Hong Kong.

Acceptance inspection of the new port building of the Huanggang Port has been completed. Following the completion of a series of system tests, trials and emergency drills by both Hong Kong and Shenzhen, it has been confirmed that the port is ready for opening. As agreed by the governments of Guangdong and Hong Kong, the Huanggang Port will officially open and commence operation at 6:30 am of October 12, 2026, providing 24-hour clearance services for passengers and passenger vehicles. At the same time, passenger clearance services between the temporary port building of the Huanggang Port in Shenzhen and the Lok Ma Chau Control Point in Hong Kong will be suspended.
