Russia is ready to supply oil and petroleum products to the United States and global markets, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday, the Kremlin said.
During the call, the two leaders focused on prospects for resolving the Ukraine crisis, the situation surrounding Iran, and various aspects of bilateral relations.
Putin said the energy supply would have a positive impact on the entire global economy.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining personal contacts between the presidents and continuing cooperation between their respective administrations, intelligence services and other agencies.
Following the phone call, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said Russia would begin lifting restrictions on diesel fuel exports ahead of schedule.
He said Russia stands ready to supply additional diesel volumes to the U.S. market and other partners, planning to export 300,000 tons this month, another 500,000 tons in November, and one million tons in December. Novak noted that Russia's domestic market will also be fully supplied with diesel.
Trump said the same day that the two leaders had reached an agreement on Russia supplying diesel to the U.S. and global markets.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a temporary general license allowing the sale, delivery, offloading and importation of Russian-origin diesel fuel to the global market.
