China will develop and cultivate more new occupations in response to the country's industrial development needs during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), said an official with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security at a news briefing in Beijing on Saturday.
During the past five years, China has introduced 72 new occupations and nearly 100 new job categories. Since the beginning of 2026, authorities have announced another 11 new occupations and 23 new job categories.
Next, China will closely follow changes in industrial jobs and improve the systems for profession classification, standards, and information release of new occupations.
"We will keep a close eye on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, digital economy, green and low-carbon development, and modern services to collect information on new occupations. We will continuously expand and smooth application channels for industries, research institutions, and all sectors of society, and promptly designate emerging jobs with large employment potential and broad development prospects as new occupations, release information on them to the public, and guide new employment," said Wu Liduo, director of the Department of Professional Capacity Building under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.
