China's road logistics price index edges up in September

China's road logistics price index rose in September as the impact of seasonal factors gradually waned, industry data showed Thursday.

The index came in at 105.1 last month, up 0.14 percent month on month and rising 0.06 percent from the same period of 2025, according to a survey jointly conducted by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP).

Specifically, the figure for full-truckload logistics, which mainly measures bulk commodity and regional transportation, stood at 105.7, up 0.15 percent from the previous month and climbing 0.06 percent year on year, according to the survey.

According to expert analysis, driven by the policy of steady growth and expanding domestic demand, industrial production has accelerated its expansion and consumer logistics has remained strong. Superimposed with the seven-day National Day holiday, which ran from Oct 1 to 7, the transportation demand is released in advance, the characteristics of peak season appear, and the supply and demand environment of road transportation market has improved. However, the overall supply of the market is weak, low-price competition still exists, and logistics enterprises are under pressure.

Looking forward to the fourth quarter, the industry and the construction sector will catch up with the peak season, and the e-commerce sector will thrive at the end of the year, so road transportation demand is expected to be released in a large scale in the season.

Measures such as rectification of truck overload, regulation of low-price competition and promotion of multimodal transport will continue to optimize the freight market environment. The freight index of highway logistics is expected to maintain a moderate recovery trend.

The 140th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, opened in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province on Thursday with record shares of new and green products among its exhibits, as 32,000 companies gathered for the three-phase trade show.

The fair, which marks its 70th anniversary this year, covers 1.55 million square meters and runs through Nov. 4.

More than 11,000 exhibitors are specialized manufacturers or leaders in niche markets. Nearly two-thirds of participating companies have adopted technologies such as artificial intelligence and the industrial internet.

New products make up 23.2 percent of exhibits while green products account for 26 percent, both record shares. The fair is set to host more than 700 product launch events, with the number of products to be unveiled rising 15 percent.

Advanced manufacturing takes center stage in the first phase, which runs through Oct. 19.

More than 12,000 companies are exhibiting across 520,000 square meters, with over 25,000 booths in 19 exhibition areas covering products including electronics, home appliances and industrial automation. Seventeen dedicated sections showcase emerging industries such as service robots, drones and display technologies.

The influx of buyers is also expected to boost traffic at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.

Border inspection authorities forecast more than 1.2 million international passenger movements during the fair, up 13.6 percent from a year earlier, and more than 6,500 international flight movements, up 17.6 percent.

The airport has added dedicated immigration lanes, multilingual service counters and volunteer support to help visitors clear border checks.
