Over 200,000 hectares of wild desert poplar forests in Bachu County, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, have entered the peak viewing period as the trees' leaves turn yellow, attracting visitors with their autumn beauty.
The desert poplar is a rugged species of tree, known as "guardian of the desert". It is resistant to low temperatures, drought and saline-alkali soil, and serves as an ideal windbreak and sand-fixation plant.
Footage showed golden desert poplar trees in the county lining the banks of rivers and lakes across the desert, creating stunning views.
"Standing by the water, the desert poplar trees with their golden leaves blend beautifully with the desert landscape. The ecosystem here has been preserved so well, and the scenery is truly spectacular," said Zhu Chazhen, a tourist.
The peak viewing period for the desert poplar forests will last until mid-to-late November.
