Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core has persistently advanced full and rigorous Party self-governance so as to break new ground in revitalizing and strengthening the Party and create new glories in the new era.

Xi, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, has stressed that to do a good job of governing the country, the Party should do a good job of governing itself.

Since assuming the Party's top post in November 2012, Xi has delivered important speeches at multiple plenary sessions of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), outlining strategic plans and initiating concrete measures for the ongoing battle against corruption.

He has put forward a series of new concepts, new ideas, and new strategies for exercising Party self-governance, strengthening the Party, and ensuring its continued vitality, thus creating Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building.

This doctrine upholds the integration of the basic tenets of Marxism with China's specific realities and with its fine traditional culture. It embodies the practical experience and collective wisdom of the Party and the people, constitutes an important component of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and provides the fundamental guidance and action guide for advancing the great new project of Party building in the new era.

Under his leadership, an overwhelming victory has been achieved in the fight against corruption, with the gains fully consolidated. The persistent anti-corruption efforts have helped remove serious hidden dangers in the Party, the country, and the military, and ensured that the power granted by the Party and the people is always exercised in the interests of the people.

In 2026, the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), Xi called for advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance with higher standards and more concrete measures.

Xi urged efforts to confine power to an institutional cage in a more well-conceived and effective manner, and press ahead with the anti-corruption fight with a clearer understanding and stronger resolve, thus providing a strong guarantee for achieving the goals and tasks of the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

"General Secretary Xi Jinping has called for persistent efforts to advance full and rigorous Party self-governance with higher standards and more concrete, practical measures. This strategic deployment reflects a high degree of historical initiative and a keen, profound insight into the developments globally, nationally, and within the Party -- all viewed through the lens of consolidating the Party's governing position and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Only by forging a Party that is stronger, more resilient, and full of vitality can it provide a fundamental guarantee to advance Chinese modernization," said Hong Xianghua, a professor at the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China.

Since its founding 105 years ago, the CPC has grown from just over 50 members to the world's largest governing party, with over 100 million members. It leads a major country with a population of over 1.4 billion and exerts significant global influence. It has led the Chinese people in opening a correct path toward national rejuvenation and modernization, winning the broadest support and endorsement of the people.

In its glorious course of 105 years of unremitting struggle, the CPC has consistently strengthened itself. It is adept at examining itself in light of the requirements of evolving times, maintaining a strong sense of concern for potential risks to keep itself vigilant, and refining itself in the spirit of self-reform. In doing so, it has stayed vigorous and vibrant all the time.

In the first three quarters of this year, China's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 4.6 percent year-on-year despite mounting pressures. This hard-won achievement serves as a clear demonstration of the Party's capability in leading economic and social development.

Heavy airstrikes hit Yemen's Houthi-held capital Sanaa and the Red Sea port city of Mocha in the southwestern province of Taiz on Saturday, killing and wounding several people, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported.

Successive airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition rocked Sanaa with powerful explosions. Local residents said that warplanes continued to hover over the capital amid loud blasts.

Al-Masirah said three people were killed and several others wounded when a strike hit a house in Asr, western Sanaa. It also reported casualties after a cement factory was struck in Hamdan district, northwest of the capital.

The broadcaster also said nearly 20 airstrikes hit Mocha, a city in southwestern Taiz province near the strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait, one of the world's key maritime chokepoints.

There was no immediate comment from the Saudi Arabia-led coalition.

Turki Al-Maliki, spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, said on Saturday on social media platform X that the coalition intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group toward the Saudi capital Riyadh.

The strikes came as Yemen's internationally recognized government forces, backed by the Saudi-led coalition, intensified their "Dawn of Yemen" offensive against the Houthis, while the group has responded with missile and drone attacks deep inside Saudi Arabia.

Yemen has been mired in conflict since late 2014, when the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and much of the country's north, prompting a Saudi-led coalition to intervene the following year in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
