Green and low carbon products have emerged as a major highlight at the ongoing Canton Fair in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, with 639,000 such products accounting for 26 percent of the exhibits.
Officially known as the 140th China Import and Export Fair, the autumn session of this biannual event runs from Oct 15 to Nov 4, with the five-day second phase focusing on Quality Home Life since Friday.
The Phase II features an exhibition area of over 515,000 square meters with over 25,000 booths, drawing more than 10,000 enterprises from around the world.
At the kitchenware and tableware section, a full range of bamboo products such as cutting boards and disposable cutlery that meet food-grade performance requirements have caught the eyes of many buyers from Europe and America.
"The products we brought here this time also comply with environmental protection requests. Customers we have received are very interested in our straws and disposable knives, forks and spoons, so we hope to secure more overseas orders at this Canton Fair," said Jiang Rui, an exhibitor.
Another exhibitor, which began to produce bamboo products in 1995, has been present at the Canton Fair for 30 years in a row. It has developed high-temperature carbonization, high-pressure shaping and seamless polishing techniques to prevent products from cracking or getting moldy and improve their durability.
"Green and environment friendly products are popular around the world now, so we must spend more on research and development in this regard to create better and more eco-friendly products and take them to the world," said exhibitor Zhang Yu.
Zhang's products have won favor from buyers at the event not only for their high quality but also for their outlook.
"The design is very nice. So, it's exciting for us to come here and see them every year," said Cindy Dicker, a buyer from South Africa.
