The 2026 Global Governance Forum (Xiong'an) concluded on Sunday in Xiong'an New Area, north China's Hebei Province, with the release of a vision document that consolidates cross-party consensus and expectations for reforming and improving global governance. According to the document, upholding multilateralism is the only viable path to effectively address global governance deficit.
It also call on the Global South to strengthen coordination, translate aspirations for common development into joint actions to build economic and trade rules, and earnestly amplify the voice of developing countries.
The United Nations should serve as a core platform for global governance in artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure equal and effective participation by all countries, said the document.
Under the theme "Rebuilding Confidence and Cooperation: Reforming and Improving Global Governance in a Transforming World," participants held in-depth exchanges and reached consensuses on a range of topics such as safeguarding the UN-centered international system, forging consensus on faster development, deepening the reform of the international economic and financial system, governing emerging fields including AI, cyberspace and outer space, and advancing inter-civilization dialogue and mutual learning.
Participants agreed that translating global governance initiatives into shared global action represents an irresistible trend and the common aspiration of all people.
They welcomed China's launch of a global governance research center, saying that it will provide strong intellectual support for reforming and improving global governance.
