China is ready to continue working with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and pushing forward the development of bilateral relations, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Monday.
Guo made the remarks at a regular press briefing in Beijing in response to a media query about DPRK's top leader Kim Jong Un's visit to Dandong in northeast China's Liaoning Province.
China's top political advisor Wang Huning on Saturday accompanied Kim, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), on a visit to Dandong.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, conveyed General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to Kim.
"China and the DPRK are friendly neighbors. Maintaining, consolidating, and developing bilateral relations has always been an unswerving strategic policy of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government. The sustained, sound, and stable development of the traditional friendship and cooperative relations between the two countries will help improve the well-being of both peoples and is also conducive to regional peace, stability, development, and prosperity. China is ready to continue working with the DPRK to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and pushing forward the development of China-DPRK relations," said Guo.
