The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority:

Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited (HKICL) has recently noted two fraudulent websites purported to be from HKICL:

• fpshkicl-hke8.sy30.my
• fpsicl-hke8.sy30.my

These fraudulent websites imitate as "Buyer Online Protection" to provide services including 1) refund to buyer, 2) unauthorised online transaction reporting, and 3) online transaction support, for online transaction over FPS payment.

Please be reminded that the fraudulent websites may have multiple combinations at the end of the link, e.g.:

HKICL advises that these fraudulent websites have no affiliation with HKICL, or any business of HKICL. HKICL will not directly provide FPS service to individual members of the public or contact individual members of the public proactively under usual circumstance. The genuine official website addresses of HKICL are www.hkicl.com.hk and fps.hkicl.com.hk.

HKICL urges the public to beware of suspicious calls, websites or other communications, and to remain vigilant in protecting personal information. If members of the public receive any suspicious communication purportedly from HKICL, please call HKICL's general line at 2533 1111 to verify. Members of the public who suspect that theyhave become the victim of fraudulent acts should report promptly to the Police.

CE expresses sorrow over passing of former Vice Premier Liu Yandong

The Chief Executive, Mr John Lee, today (October 28) expressed his profound sorrow over the passing of former Vice Premier Liu Yandong.

"Former Vice Premier Liu was an outstanding leader in the country's work on education, science and technology, medical and health, as well as women and children's affairs. She served as a member of the Preparatory Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region under the National People's Congress and deputy leader of the Central Coordination Group for Hong Kong and Macao Affairs, and had always cared for and supported the long-term stability and prosperity of Hong Kong.

"Former Vice Premier Liu had visited Hong Kong on multiple occasions in her different positions, reaching out to people from different sectors and fully demonstrating her care for Hong Kong and its people. She had officiated at the opening ceremony of the 5th East Asian Games and met with presidents of a number of Hong Kong universities and young people. I am sincerely grateful for her contributions to promoting the development of Hong Kong in such areas as education, economy and sports.
