Christophe Bazivamo, secretary general of Rwanda's ruling Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), highlighted the people-centered approach of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and its poverty reduction achievements, stressing that China's experience offers lessons that can be drawn on more widely.

"The CPC is a people-centered Party, and of course, China's government is also a government which is people-oriented, and I appreciate, actually, what it has planned. We learn from that as political parties. We just say whenever they meet each other, you learn from each other and you have a picture of what you improve, what you do for your population," Bazivamo said.

The Rwandan party official also had high praise for China's progress in poverty reduction, an accomplishment he said is inexctricably linked with economic development.

In 2021, China declared a landmark achievement: the eradication of absolute poverty, following a decades-long effort that lifted around 800 million people out of destitution. By most estimates, this accounts for more than three-quarters of global poverty reduction over the past few decades.

"What we appreciate and what we see also in Rwanda is that what we call economic development is coupled with poverty alleviation or poverty reduction. And the fact that the CPC and the government of China has actually helped a lot of people to move from the level of poverty and be developed -- it is something which is very important, and this is a move every and each party should always have in mind," he said.
