Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik Al Said of Oman arrived in Beijing on Sunday to begin his two-day state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The two-day trip, running from Sunday to Monday, marks the first visit to China by an Omani head of state since diplomatic ties were established in 1978.
During the visit, President Xi will hold talks with Sultan Haitham to have an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest. Chinese Premier Li Qiang will also meet with Sultan Haitham.

Since two countries established a strategic partnership and signed a memorandum of understanding on Belt and Road cooperation in 2018, the two sides have leveraged their complementary economic advantages to foster new cooperation highlights in new energy, advanced manufacturing, the digital economy, aerospace and artificial intelligence. Oman is also one of the founding members of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization established in Shanghai in July.
In recent years, the two countries have continuously consolidated political mutual trust, steadily advanced mutually beneficial cooperation, and increasingly promoted people-to-people and cultural exchanges, while maintaining sound communication in international and regional affairs.
China is ready to work with Oman to take this visit as an opportunity to promote greater progress in the two countries' strategic partnership, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun.
