The Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy hospital ship Auspicious Ark arrived in Togo's Lome port on Sunday for a goodwill visit and medical aid mission, marking the first visit by a Chinese naval hospital ship to the African country.
The hospital ship, which is carrying out Mission Harmony-2026, docked at the port at around 10:00 local time. Togo was the sixth stop of the ship's current medical aid mission.
At the welcome ceremony, local residents and local Chinese community members held banners and waved the national flags of China and Togo to welcome the hospital ship.
During the seven-day visit, the hospital ship will provide medical services to local patients on board, while its medical personnel will also deliver medical services at local medical facilities and engage in medical exchanges.
The mission will also see the organization of a friendly basketball match with Togo's officers and soldiers, among other activities.
"Auspicious Ark: Togo welcomes you," said students from the Confucius Institute of University of Lome upon the arrival of the hospital ship.
