China urged relevant parties to face the root cause of the Korean Peninsula issue and stick to the path of political settlement, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Monday.
Mao made the remarks when asked about the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s test of a tactical ballistic missile with a cluster warhead.
"China noted the relevant report and the fact that the DPRK has recently expressed its position on multiple occasions regarding the military activities by the U.S., the ROK and Japan. We hope the relevant parties will face up to the root cause of the Korean Peninsula issue, stick to the direction of political settlement, and make efforts to ease tensions and maintain peace and stability in the region," said Mao.
