Cross-border travel and trade are picking up at the Horgos highway port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with both passenger traffic and transport vehicles across the China-Kazakhstan border growing steadily in the first three quarters of this year.
Statistics from the Xinjiang General Station of Entry-Exit Border Inspection show that by the end of September, the port had checked 1.35 million passenger crossings, up 7.1 percent year on year, and 480,000 vehicle crossings, up 9.5 percent.
To speed up clearance, the port monitors passenger flows in real time and keeps refining its procedures, sharply cutting the time travelers spend passing through the checkpoint.
