Tommy Campbell, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of White Bridge Capital, said, “We are proud to invest in Gencom’s acquisition of Rosewood London, one of the world’s premier luxury hotels. Gencom’s more than 40-year track record of owning and developing landmark hospitality assets makes it the ideal sponsor for a property of this caliber. This investment marks an important step for White Bridge Capital as we extend our platform beyond the Americas and continue to give our family office partners access to exceptional opportunities alongside leading sponsors.”

Located at 252 High Holborn in Central London, Rosewood London occupies a landmark 1912 building proximate to Covent Garden, the Royal Opera House, the British Museum and Somerset House. The hotel underwent a comprehensive transformation between 2011 and 2014, led by design firm Tony Chi Studios, and was ranked #56 Best Hotel in the World for 2026 by The 50. Its 308 rooms include 44 suites. The hotel’s seven Houses span up to 185 square meters and rank among the finest luxury accommodations in London, while the Manor House Suite offers the rare distinction of its own independent street entrance.

Rosewood London’s highly differentiated food and beverage offering is a defining feature of the property. The flagship Holborn Dining Room, which has its own independent street entrance, is celebrated for its modern British brasserie cuisine and a Belle Époque-inspired interior by Martin Brudnizki. Brudnizki also designed Scarfes Bar, one of the world’s award-winning bars, renowned for its theatrical cocktail creations and regular live jazz programming. With over 300 varieties, the Gin Bar holds one of London’s most extensive collections, while the acclaimed Mirror Room, the hotel’s all-day dining outlet, is best known for its artist-inspired Afternoon Tea experience.

“We see London as one of the world’s most attractive and enduring luxury hospitality markets, supported by a unique combination of international leisure demand, a strong corporate base, and year-round cultural and sporting events,” added Regina Garcia Handal, Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of White Bridge Capital. “Rosewood London’s exceptional location, between the West End and the City, positions the property, under Gencom’s leadership, to benefit from these demand drivers while giving our partners a long-term stake in a landmark asset in one of the world’s most established hotel markets.”

The transaction further strengthens White Bridge Capital’s strategic partnership with Gencom, following the recent acquisition of the InterContinental Miami.

MADRID (AP) — Spain’s Transport Minister Óscar Puente announced Tuesday that he is stepping down, six days after a high-speed train collision south of Madrid killed 69 people.

He made the announcement at the end of an hourslong appearance before lawmakers about the crash — the second such deadly collision this year involving Spain’s extensive high-speed rail network.

“A transport minister in a country like Spain cannot remain in office after two accidents of this seriousness in less than a year,” Puente said.

The Oct. 28 crash took place when a high-speed train slammed into another that had stopped on the tracks. The chain of events that led to disaster started when the communication system key to the functioning of the security system on the Madrid-Seville line went down. Central controllers in Madrid took over and gave the go-ahead for a state-operated Renfe high-speed train to proceed, even though there was a stationary train ahead operated by the company Iryo.

It was the second major crash on the Madrid-Seville line this year. In January, more than two hours further south along the route, a train derailed and struck another traveling in the opposite direction, killing 46 people. That crash remains under investigation.

Puente said he had taken the decision to resign immediately after the deadly crash, but had not made it public.

The collisions have raised fresh concerns about the safety of the country’s rail network, and the most recent crash came four weeks before a national election.

Spain’s high-speed rail network has been considered one of the country’s crowning achievements. It is the world’s second-largest, after China’s. Until this year, it had not experienced a deadly crash since coming into service over three decades ago.

Earlier Tuesday, Puente announced safety measures the government would implement on the rail network, including improving conditions in control centers and pushing for a faster rollout of the standardized European Rail Traffic Management System for safety and signaling.
