Russia said on Tuesday that its forces launched massive strikes targeting Ukraine's energy facilities, while Ukraine resumed its attacks on Russian refineries.

In its daily briefing, the Russian Defense Ministry said that overnight strikes using precision-guided weapons and attack drones targeted Ukrainian energy installations supplying electricity to military-industrial enterprises.

The targets included four thermal power plants and several power substations across the Vinnytsia, Dnepropetrovsk and Kharkov regions.

Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal confirmed the attacks, saying that Russian forces used 289 drones, 17 ballistic missiles, and 59 cruise missiles to hit power plants and substations.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian media reported on Tuesday that President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed in an interview with U.S. media that Ukraine had resumed attacks on Russian oil refineries in response to persistent Russian strikes against Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
