Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday confirmed that trilateral talks between Russia, the United States and Ukraine on the Ukraine issue will begin on November 10 in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
He confirmed the information during a meeting with the Standing Committee of the Russian Federation Security Council
Putin said that given the talks are scheduled for November 10, he had invited members of the Russian delegation set to participate in the talks to attend the meeting and discuss the relevant matters. Putin also expressed his gratitude to the UAE.
Also on Friday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that Ukraine is paying close attention to the upcoming trilateral negotiations to be held in Abu Dhabi and hopes that Russia will demonstrate equal sincerity in participating in the peace process.
Sybiha said that no decisions regarding the Ukrainian issue would be made without Ukraine's participation.
Ukraine has identified security guarantees, de-escalation in the Black Sea, an energy ceasefire and prisoner exchanges as priorities for the negotiations, while also calling on Europe to fully participate in the relevant peace process, he said.
On Friday, Kyrylo Budanov, head of the presidential office of Ukraine, said that he would participate in this round of trilateral talks.
Although he does not expect breakthrough results, the restart of face-to-face consultations between Ukraine and Russia is a positive signal in the negotiation process, he said.
