Church closes to public and stops instruments ringing for two weeks after finding pair of tits nesting in lectern

This is adorable!

A church in the small village of Sourton, West Devon in England, shut to the public and bells and organ had to be silent for two weeks after they found a pair of blue tits nesting inside the hollow vicar's lectern.

The pair was discovered by maintenance man Tony Batten when he shore his torch to the empty stand. He found a family of eight new-born baby blue tits inside.

The church decided to shut to the public because it didn't want to disturb them.

Members of the church community blessed the birds after each service and waited for the animals' news. The family were finally freed and flew away about two weeks later.

Photographer Colin Sargent took pictures to the flock when they all could almost fly. He said, "services were conducted by the Rev Adrian Brooks without the organ being played as it was too close to the lectern and they didn't want to disturb the birds.

"... the birds have now all left safely and it is a story with a happy ending as it was a big worry about how they would be able to get out the church."
