The national reunification is a shared aspiration of Chinese people and an unstoppable trend of history, said Hung Hsiu-chu, former chairperson of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) party, in an interview with China Media Group in Hangzhou on Tuesday.

Hung is attending the seventh cross-Strait youth development forum held in Hangzhou, the provincial capital of Zhejiang in east China, and delivered speech at the opening ceremony on Monday.

Hung is heading a delegation of nearly 200 youth from Taiwan to attend the forum and visit Zhejiang.

In the interview with China Media Group, Hung said that the DPP authorities are intimidating and cheating compatriots in Taiwan, and they are obstructing cross-Strait exchanges because they are afraid that their lies will be exposed.

"Why do the DPP authorities obstruct it? The reason is very simple. They are afraid. What are they afraid of? They are afraid of seeing their lies exposed, they are afraid that the truth about the mainland is learned by young people in Taiwan. Of course, the mainland is making progress. Seeing is believing, as no matter how they fabricate false information, people will go and see what is really happening, and will figure out that the fabrication is not true. So what the DPP authorities do are intimidation. Who are they intimidating? They are intimidating the people. They are telling them not to go to the mainland, it is very dangerous there, and be careful or you will be caught. Actually, what [the mainland] targets are just the specific Taiwan separatists. The DPP authorities are trying to kidnap all of Taiwan, but why are there so many young friends coming this time? Facts prove everything. Intimidation may cheat people some of the time, but never all the time," said Hung.

Regarding the DPP authorities' constant tricks to falsify history textbooks and curriculum and root China out of education in Taiwan, Hung Hsiu-chu appealed to people to stand out and fight against it bravely.

"The Taiwan authorities today, especially after the DPP authorities led by Lai Ching-te came to power, have indeed upset the young people in Taiwan in their identity with the nation in the past 20 years. They have listed Chinese history in East Asian history, and failed to explain the history of Taiwan clearly. Children in Taiwan are at a loss about where they are from and where they are heading. So under such circumstances, we of course should have the courage to stand out and let them understand where the real problem is, where we are from, and where we are heading in the future. I think if everyone has this heart, as long as everyone is willing to work together, I don't think this can't be done," she said.

The forum, which runs through Friday, gathers over 1,000 guests and youth representatives from across the Taiwan Strait to promote closer bonds and integrated development.

Iran's state television IRIB reported on Sunday that the U.S.-Iran talks, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, were suspended after about 80 minutes of discussions, as the two sides paused for a break and internal consultations.

According to media reports, no negotiations on Iran's nuclear program took place during the first round of talks, which focused on the implementation of clause 13 of the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries and prioritized issues related to Lebanon.

Qatari sources said the first round of talks focused on Lebanon, with discussions on the Strait of Hormuz to follow. A third session will address Iran's nuclear program and sanctions.

Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency, citing a source close to the negotiating team, said the Iranian delegation left the venue of the talks in protest over comments by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Earlier in the day, Trump threatened on his Truth Social platform to "hit Iran very hard again" if Iran did not stop Hezbollah from "causing trouble."
