Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Beijing on Saturday, agreeing to build a China-Indonesia community with a shared future with regional and global influence.

Xi said Prabowo made his first visit to China soon after winning the presidential election in March, and again made China the destination of his first visit abroad after taking office, showing the great importance Prabowo places on developing relations with China and demonstrating the high level and strategic significance of China-Indonesia relations.

Upholding strategic independence, mutual trust and mutual assistance, win-win cooperation, as well as fairness and justice was highlights of the development of China-Indonesia ties over the past decades, and is also an important principle for the long-term and stable growth of bilateral relations in the future, said Xi, noting China stands ready to work together with Indonesia's new-term government to build a community with a shared future with regional and global influence, and continue to write new chapters of major developing countries pursuing self-strength through unity and engaging in win-win cooperation.

Xi called on the two sides to enhance strategic mutual trust, maintain close high-level exchanges as well as cooperation between governments and legislatures and at the sub-national level, strengthen experience-sharing on state governance, and firmly support each other in exploring a path to modernization that suits respective national conditions and in defending core interests and major concerns.

Xi said China and Indonesia should further improve the layout of strategic cooperation, create five pillars of political, economic, people-to-people, maritime and security cooperation, stick to high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, smoothly operate the Jakarta-Bandung high speed railway, advance cooperation on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor and the "Two Countries, Twin Parks", and boost cooperation in fields including digital economy, advanced manufacturing and circular economy.

Xi said China is ready to make joint efforts with Indonesia to build more projects that improve people's livelihoods, intensify exchanges and cooperation in poverty reduction, medicine, grain farming and fishery, and support Indonesia in training research personnel and growing vocational education.

Noting this year marks the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and next year marks the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, Xi said that as major developing countries and emerging markets as well as main members of the Global South, China and Indonesia should advocate Asian values centered on peace, cooperation, inclusiveness and integration, add new dimensions to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the Bandung Spirit, and work as pace-setters among the Global South countries in seeking strength through unity to make global governance fairer and more equitable.

Xi said China is willing to implement closer multilateral strategic coordination with Indonesia, and jointly oppose unilateralism and protectionism, promote an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, and safeguard regional peace and stability.

Prabowo said Indonesia looks forward to further strengthening all-round strategic coordination with China, becoming a closer comprehensive strategic partner for China, and building a Indonesia-China community with a shared future with regional and global influence.

Prabowo said Indonesia stands ready to work with China to continue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, improve the "five-pillar" cooperation, and enhance all-round and whole-industrial-chain cooperation including infrastructure, energy minerals, medicine, agriculture, housing, maritime joint development, food security and poverty reduction.

The Indonesian president said his country fully supports the Chinese government's position on the Taiwan question, stays committed to the one-China policy, and resolutely supports the Chinese government's efforts in safeguarding territorial integrity and realizing national reunification. He said Indonesia supports China's effort to promote Xinjiang's development and ensure its stability.

He thanked China for upholding fairness and justice on the Palestinian question.

Noting Indonesia supports the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi, Prabowo said Indonesia is ready to step up communication and coordination with China within the G20 and other multilateral frameworks, and jointly make positive efforts in safeguarding the common interests of the Global South, promoting a multi-polar world, and building a community with a shared future for mankind.

After the talks, the two heads of state witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents on joint development, blue economy, water conservancy, and minerals, among other fields.

The two sides issued a joint statement on advancing the China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership and the China-Indonesia community with a shared future.

On the evening of the same day, Xi Jinping held a welcoming banquet for Prabowo at the Golden Hall of the Great Hall of the People.

The airstrike conducted by Saudi-led coalition targeting the port of Mukalla in Yemen's oil-rich Hadramout province early Tuesday morning has caused severe damage to nearby residential buildings and left locals terrified.

According to the coalition, the strike targeted weapons and combat vehicles allegedly unloaded at the port from two unauthorized ships that arrived from the port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over the weekend.

Coalition spokesman Turki Al Maliki said the vessels had disabled their tracking systems and delivered a large cache of arms intended to bolster the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Yemen's Hadramout and Al-Mahra provinces, a move he described as a "clear violation" of the UN Security Council Resolution 2216 of 2015.

He said the operation was conducted in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules, ensuring that no collateral damage occurred.

However, local residents offered a different account, describing scenes of chaos and destruction in the pre-dawn hours following the strike.

"As you can see, this is the severe damage that occurred to our home as a result of the airstrike that targeted the Mukalla port, specifically military vehicles that were next to the house, about 20 to 40 meters away. At exactly 04:30, the location was targeted with a surprise airstrike, and we were shocked by the sudden violent explosions," said Salem Ali Al-Haj Zaid, a local resident.

Another resident, Um Ali, described the psychological toll on children.

"The children kept crying from the time of the strike until morning. Poor things, they were shocked, scared and unable to sleep again," said Ali.

The strike hit especially hard for Um Mohammed, a widow living on the top floor of a residential building near the port.

"We were terrified. My mother is old. The most damage was to the floor of the building where I live, and I am a widow. Who will compensate us for this?" said Mohammed.

The reported attacks come amid heightened military escalation in Hadramout, where Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces have warned of possible military action following the STC's refusal to withdraw its forces from the governorate.

Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition called on all civilians to immediately evacuate the port of Mukalla to ensure their safety, according to the Saudi state news agency SPA.

Mukalla, the capital of Hadramout governorate, is a key port city on Yemen's southeastern coast, with strategic and economic value.
