A Chinese private entrepreneur of a listed lithium battery supplier calls for more open mindset and proactive initiative among the private sector, after having received more encouragement and favorable policies from the central government.

As the Chinese economy gradually shifts towards a technology-and-innovation-driven development model, private enterprises are the driving force for this transformation, he said.

Li Shijiang, chairman of Do-Fluoride New Materials Co., Ltd., a lithium battery material manufacturer based in central China's Henan Province, expressed his viewpoints in a recent interview with the China Global Television Network (CGTN).

This interview followed a symposium held in February in which President Xi Jinping spoke directly to the country's top-tier private entrepreneur representatives for their involvement in rejuvenating the country's economy, attracting wide attention in the country's business communities.

Not only strong policy support is required to promote enterprises innovation. More importantly, it is necessary for enterprises exert their subjective initiative, Li said.

"In fact, there are many experts among the people. Much of China's innovation capability lies in the folks, including in private enterprises, which have an innate and strong drive for innovation. For private enterprises to thrive, relying solely on policies is not enough. They must be self-reliant, independent, with a keen awareness of survival. Without innovation, they may perish. Therefore, it is essential to tap into this internal pressure for innovation and ensure that they play a leading role in innovation. In terms of the innovation ecosystem, I believe the most important thing is to reduce the cost of innovation in society, to untackle it and to open up," he said.

Li's company Do-Fluoride started in chemical business of producing fluorine and later expanded it to lithium battery with wide demand in new energy sector now. It first achieved its R and D breakthrough in lithium hexafluorophosphate, a crucial component for making electrolytes for lithium batteries and has grown to become a leading global supplier. It was listed on China's Shenzhen Stock Exchange since 2010.

U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that he is considering "winding down" the U.S. military strikes against Iran, claiming the United States is "getting very close to" meeting its objectives.

"We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East" with respect to Iran, Trump said on Truth Social.

The objectives Trump outlined include degrading Iran's missile capabilities, destroying its defense industrial base, eliminating its navy and air force, preventing it from ever approaching nuclear capability and protecting U.S. allies across the region.

Also on Friday, Trump said that he does not want a ceasefire with Iran.

"We can have dialogue, but you know, I don't want to do a ceasefire," Trump told reporters before he departed the White House for Florida, noting "You don't do a ceasefire when you're literally obliterating the other side."

"U.S. government says one thing, reality says another," Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said Friday on X, questioning White House's repeated claims that Iran's air defenses and Navy have been destroyed.

Trump on Truth Social also said that the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy waterway, should be secured by the countries that rely on it and Washington would assist if asked.

"The Hormuz Strait will have to be guarded and policed, as necessary, by other Nations who use it -- The United States does not! If asked, we will help these Countries in their Hormuz efforts, but it shouldn't be necessary once Iran's threat is eradicated," Trump added.

The United States and Israel launched joint military strikes on Iran on Feb 28, disrupting global shipping, sending oil prices soaring and shaking the global economy.
