The two-day 9th summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) concluded in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras on Wednesday with the the adoption of the Tegucigalpa Declaration.

The Tegucigalpa Declaration is a roadmap aimed at deepening political and economic integration across the region.

Honduras formally handed over CELAC's rotating presidency to Colombia.

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday sent congratulations to the 9th CELAC summit.

In a congratulatory message, Xi voiced China's readiness to work with the countries in the Latin American and Caribbean region to push for new progress in building a China-Latin America community with a shared future.

Founded in 2011, CELAC serves as an intergovernmental mechanism for dialogue and political consensus among 33 nations in the region. Its primary goal is to foster unity and promote integration across political, economic, social, and cultural fronts.

Crude futures settle higher

 

Oil prices advanced on Monday.

The West Texas Intermediate for February delivery increased by 1.34 U.S. dollars, or 2.36 percent, to settle at 58.08 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for February delivery went up 1.3 dollars, or 2.14 percent, to settle at 61.94 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
