Pressure and threats from the United States will not resolve the ongoing China-U.S. trade dispute, China's Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday, calling for a return to fair dialogue.
The ministry's spokesperson He Yongqian told a press briefing that while China remains open to talks, any talk must be based on mutual respect and conducted on an equal footing.
"Recently, the United States has imposed tariffs on all its trading partners, including China, under various pretexts, which seriously violates international rules and fairness and justice. The Chinese government, along with relevant economies around the world, strongly condemns and firmly opposes this. Pressure and threats from the United States will not resolve the dispute. The U.S. should return to fair dialogue. China has taken and will continue to take resolute countermeasures to safeguard its sovereignty, security and development interests," she stated.
